This morning when I was driving to work in the high way my car started shaking and I coudnt keep up with the speed untill the she shake got more vigirous so I didn't know what was happening. I thought my car was breaking down so I slowed down and drove on the other side of the road and that's when my drivers tire came off and flew off the road and landed at the right side of the road. I put my harzards on and called a tow truck.Luckily its weekend so the traffic wasn't heavy. So has anyone been in the same situation?

I had a tire separate on the highway once, very similar to what it sounds like you're trying to describe - shaking, noise, slowing down, pulling off the road, calling for help.

I discovered that most likely I hadn't been monitoring the tire pressure, so it was low, and since I had a LOT of stuff in the car there was too much weight on the tires, combining to cause the failure.

I'm much more careful about tire pressure now, & carry a pump in case I get a warning light when I'm away from a service station.

My husband and I had our car die on the busiest bridge in the city. We called 911 right away and they were very prompt in parking behind us with their lights on to keep us safe. The cop asked if we wanted a tow truck and we said yes, but then the cops switched (to police from a different state) and things must've gotten lost in the transition. Agonizing minutes later the new cop asked if we had called a tow truck and we said no, didn't get a chance to explain why because he was pretty frustrated (we were already causing a huge backup of traffic). So we called AAA right away and they were quick at least. We were very thankful that our then toddler age twins were with grandma and grandpa and not in the car with us.
