Hyperthyroid - how much can I do?

I've recently been diagnosed with hyperthyrodism - constantly out of breath, tremors, weakness in muscles. I had started doing a circuits class in the summer as well as weights sessions and trying to fit in the occasional run so I was finally starting to feel happier about my fitness level. However I went to the doctor as I wasn't keeping up in class any more and my usual run took me 20MINS longer than usual when i finally managed to get round. My current resting heartrate is 100 whereas a fitness test at work in the summer had it at 53!!

So I've had to more or less do nothing for the last few weeks and have now been prescribed Carbimazole. I'd like to get back to doing something again without sending the heartrate soaring and getting disheartened.

Has anyone else had this issue and what were you able to do?

I haven't had that exact problem but trying to be fit with health issues is a constant struggle for me. You need to ask your doctor for your limitations. People here can tell you their experience but only your doctor can take your personal medical history into account and give you advice tailored to your needs.

Hyperthyroid is bothersome. Get your TSH, T3, T4, Free T3, and Free T4 levels checked. I have personally found that the out of breath and the severe palpitations stop once I have rested for quite a while. Strength training is easy but cardio (apart from swimming) is a major bother.
I would suggest that take things easy and slow for a while but definitely see your endocrinologist and see what he advices. Hope this helps :)
