Why am I not losing weight?

Latley, I have been on an acid reflux medication. I have been dieting and exercising. I have been doing well with my calorie intake. I have not lost any weight. I am only gaining....I am beyond frustrated. What am I doing wrong? I am another person who is obsessed with the scale. I would weight 2 pounds less in the morning than at night. Now, I weigh more and more every time I weigh myself no matter what time of day it is. I want to be 120-122. I am currently 127-129. I know a lot of you think that is nothing, but the reality is, my clothes do not fit anymore and it is really depressing. I bought my wedding dress in January and now I am getting married in 3 weeks. I almost cried at my dress fitting last week. It barely fits. What am I doing wrong? Is it my medication? or me?

It is you. You are eating too much.-1

Are you using a food scale?0

Weigh your food. We inevitably eat more than we think we are, and an extra 30-40 calories a few times a day adds up fast.0

That's likely true, but a bit of a rude way to respond to someone asking for help. Many of us end up on MFP because we do not know enough about diet, exercise, and our bodies.
Have you tracked your daily diet and calorie intake?
There was a winter that I gained about 30 pounds. I'm a pretty small person, 30 pounds left me looking absolutely obese. Currently I am where you are, my goal is 118-120 (you naturally fluctuate, and it is very normal to weigh less in the morning than the evening) but I am currently 126-127ish and that small of a difference absolutely CAN have you looking, feeling, and fitting into your clothing a miserable experience. With every pound I have lost I have felt better and better, amazing what extra fat weight can do to you!
The winter that I gained so drastically, I did not realize how much I was eating. I LOVE food. I love the ACT of eating food. I grew up being required to clear my plates and we ate carb heavy because we were poor, so calorie dense foods and cravings will forever now be a challenge for me to slow down on.
I spent four weeks on MFP tracking everything I ate and how much. There is always a margin of error, and even though I had always read labels to avoid lots of processed and artificial ingredients, I had truly no concept of what types of calories were good/bad, how much was a serving or too much, what different types of carbs/fat/sugar/fiber really did for your body...I was eating about 3600 calories a day! I'm 5'1 and even after having three children I was 116-120pounds. To lose weight I am trying to stay between 1100-1400 calories depending on my activity level, maintenance is around 1600-2000 depending what calculator you use and activity level.0 -

In the meantime, if you aren't weighing your food and logging every single thing you eat and drink, it's possible that you're eating more than you think you are. If you're using MFP to calculate your calorie burns, it's notorious for overestimating calories. Some cardio machines do, too. If you're eating back all of your exercise calories, and they have been overstated, that may be another factor in your weight gain.
A low carb diet will definitely help you to drop weight quickly. Most of it will be water at the beginning, but our bodies can hold a significant amount of water. One caveat, another poster says you can eat fruit while dropping other high carb foods; you can't. Fruit is almost all sugar (carbs). If you decide to go that route so you'll fit into your wedding dress, check out the Atkins website and follow their Phase One plan. It'll be rough and you'll probably feel a bit under the weather for the first week as your body "detoxes" from sugar but once you get past that, you'll be fine.0 -

Apologies, I will try and find a forum next time in which you are not around so I am not accused of being rude just by giving a direct answer.... If the OP was to be offended by "It is you. You are eating too much.", then why ask "Is it my medication? or me?"0 -
Maybe I should have included how many calories I am eating a day. Yes, I measure my food. I am eating 1200 calories a day. I have only gone over on some days by about 50-100 calories. I am doing 20 minutes of cardio and some light weight training/yoga about 4 days a week. And Yes I agree, some of you are very rude. But, that is to be expected with the general public. Not everyone has manners. To others, thank you for a serious response.0

Do you measure - or do you weigh your food? There is a difference. If you measure, then how? You can't be accurate on solid food by measuring. Do you log everything you consume? Every beverage that has calories, condiment, cooking oil? Use no 'homemade entries' except the ones you created yourself? Weigh every solid item?
If the weight change has happened since taking the medication, consulting your doctor as others have suggested makes sense.rachael5350 wrote: »Maybe I should have included how many calories I am eating a day.
