illness and fitness

I have lost 29.8 pounds as of today, and 4-5 days a week I am in the gym between 45 minutes to an hour.
Well, I just woke up to something very nasty. (fever, chills, headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat)
I don't think I will be able to make it to the gym this week, and right now I don't have the energy to do much of anything!
I am concerned that my fitness endurance may be affected by a week off. To the seasoned pros here, have you noticed any change in your endurance when you got back into your exercise routine after illness?
I will be eating at maintenance while under the weather, but right now I just don't feel like eating much of anything.

Being sick is, unfortunately, a part of life. You should be focused on getting better. A week off won't kill your endurance.0

A week off will only help you perform better when you return. Take time to get better and you'll be so glad you did. I just took a week off myself and am returning today but I'm not worried about it at all. I've trained for months and I know I'll pick right back up where I left off.
Good luck!!0 -
You need to look at the bigger picture here...a week off is nothing...you don't just lose all of your fitness being off for a week. In the grand scheme of things, it's nothing.
Remember that all of this is about your health and wellness...that includes taking care of yourself when you're ill.0 -
Sure - especially if you try to come back too soon.
Your endurance will start to drop about a week out. But, really, we're not talking going from being able to run a marathon to barely finishing a 5K. Take the small hit to your endurance if you aren't healthy in a couple of days and take one, maybe two steps back in the first workout you do once you are healthy. It won't take but a couple of workouts to be back where you were when you got sick.0
