I'm seriously now changing my eating habits and exercise habits. But if I were to keep gaining weight from 365 pounds. How much shorter of a life span would I have? i'm 18.

There's really no way to tell, however the RISK factor would keep increasing.

That's a great question and a really thoughtful one for an 18 year old.

Hopefully you got some good info from the links and ideas above. It made me think, though. I was watching an episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Nation a few years ago. It was when he was going into schools and teaching kids and their parents how easy it is to make food that is healthier and still quick to make. So many parents rely on fast food when they just don't have time to cook dinner. He was focusing on the education aspect and trying to teach the students, their families and also change the food the schools serve because healthy food can be cost efficient for them. Well, there was this girl. She was very overweight, morbidly obese. She'd recently seen a doctor and he told this girl and her mother than if she didn't start doing something very soon to lower her weight that she might not live to see her mid-20s. You could see it really made an impact on her and her family.

I'd certainly hope that in your case the prediction isn't so dire but being very overweight is extremely hard on our bodies and will definitely wear them out much earlier than would be the case.

Here's hoping that this step you're taking is just the first on the road to a very long and healthy life filled with joy and love.

It's good that you are taking care of yourself now, but realistically, take care of yourself and live the best life you can. There's no way to know how long you'll live or what will happen to you in your life. Be happy, be kind, and love yourself. That's how to live the best life -and that's more important than the longest life.

It depends on some other factors such as genetics, lifestyle, current health, ect... But at the weight you are at now you are putting yourself at a higher risk for heart disease and diabetes along with more problems with being overweight.

"Obesity is associated with several serious health conditions including increased risk of diabetes, heart attacks, and cancer. But just how serious is that risk? Serious enough to cut life expectancy by up to 14 years, according to a recent study."**

This is known as the "what if I didn't stop gaining weight, when would I die?" question. I see nothing wrong in asking such a question.

This is the "He will start losing weight because he has his whole life ahead of him" response!

All I can say is: if you're really 18 (+-) this is the best time to figure this crap out.

Lol, if I put in that I'm a 300lb smoker with a family history of heart disease and diabetes it tells me I'm going to live til nearly 70. I think it's a bit unrealistic.
