Don't cook, need lunch/dinner and MOD carb, what's left?

Here's the parameters:
1) I eat like a college student (eg I don't like to cook and/or rarely cook, so I live on things like oatmeal, string cheese, eggs, etc)

2) I have a part time job/grad school classes

3) I need to eat food on the go while I am working and in class

4) I'm trying to keep my carbs under 150.

Any food ideas I can take with me easily that meet these goals?

Also, I'm not that fond of meat. I'll eat things like chicken/tuna, but only sparingly. A tough case, I know!

    Plain Greek yogurt and berries
Raw veggies (I am currently loving snap peas in the pod & green beans. Baby carrots, celery, cauliflower & mushrooms are also great.)
Big salads with lunch meat/eggs/cheese/avocado, etc.
    Wraps
    PB & J

If you really want to lose then you'll have to make some changes unless you want to eat processed food bars and fruits and veggies. I don't know about everyone else, but I also worked three part time jobs and went to school full time. I had to cook my meals at home and not eat crap all of the time when I was on the go.

No offense, but it's better learn to cook and plan now. Life doesn't slow down when you get out of school. You're always going to be too busy or find a reason to not cook. Once you find the balance, life gets easier.

ETA: You don't have to cook gourmet meals, but some grilled chicken, brown rice, black beans, boiled eggs, etc are so easy to cook on Sunday and throw together each day for a meal. That along with some greek yogurt, a banana, trail mix ( I make mine with pretzels, almonds, granola and dried fruit) is a great day.

    O_o

i love how the post asking for food ideas that only said the OP didn't like cooking turned into a lecture about processed food and eating out.

I eat out ALL THE TIME.

WP: look at those salad in a jar things? I hear they are all the rage on pinterest. I personally have been known to snack on stuff like garbanzo beans (just take some in a tupperware) and then also stuff like cured meat (salami <3) travels well and tastes good. you can add some crackers in there and cheese and be pretty good to go. Sort of like making your own lunchables that don't suck.

I don't do salad in a jar but I do salad in a tupperware. I keep the soggy-inducing ingredients separate in another container or even a small plastic baggie (then everything fits in one container.) Making one's lunch the night before is crucial for me, otherwise I am doomed. (I never wake up well.) And you do eggs, right? Hard-boiled eggs really are fabulous. Love 'em and take 'em to work quite often.

Trying to keep the carbs low presents an extra challenge. I often like to throw cheese and maybe turkey pepperoni onto some sort of bread or something and melt it in the toaster oven or microwave.

When I have to eat take out I usually have Wendy's Chili (there's a lot of fibre so the carbs are moderate when factored in) or if it's dinner I will have a Subway tuna salad salad with everything on it and southwest sauce. Is this ideal? No, but it's not like I eat those things every day :)

I'm a huge fan of things that can be shoved in the oven and left to cook these days, eg, half a bell pepper with an egg in it, or jacket potatoes or sweet potatoes. Not really much cooking involved as you can just wander off and do something else while it cooks itself.

    Thank you, great ideas!

Yes I suppose I would be healthier if I dragged myself to the stove once in a while.. but there's so much on Netflix! :) Ok and there's a stack of homework as well.

I do occasionally cook rice/beans etc, thank goodness for a rice cooker.

@Oishii, you underestimate the depths of my combination of busyness/laziness! There's the chopping, the shopping, the washing, SO MUCH EFFORT
It can actually be fun sometimes! I just can't do it often I think.

I have not heard of "salad in a jar." Off to utilize Google to check that.
