Do you brew kombucha or beer at home?

Options
Looking for fellow brewers to discuss, exchange ideas, tips, etc. I brew kombucha at home and am totally addicted to the stuff, both making it AND drinking it. If you brew, what's your poison? How did you get into it?

I don't know what kombucha is.

I brew beer, mead, and cider.

    Distilling is in the future.

I brew Kombucha, and love to drink it every morning :). Personally, my favorite flavors for 2F are using elderberries, or tart cherry juice. I got into it simply because I tried it at the store, but quickly realized how expensive of a habit it can be.

Kombucha is fermented tea, brewed for its probiotic benefits. It tastes a bit like cider.

It is crazy expensive! I can make a 16 oz bottle in any flavor I want for about 12 cents, vs. $4 retail for the same old commercial flavors.

I'd love to make mead. Distilling would be fun but might be way too tempting!

Mead is very easy, it takes the most expensive ingredient in brewing. Time.

I don't shoot for a particular ABV. If you put it through 2nd ferment for a long while, it will taste a bit like beer from the yeast. Basically, I just like lots of bubbles and a strong, deep flavor.

Try making ginger beer, same idea... minimal ABV, I think like sub 3%, so cool for kids. lol.

I would drink the heck out of some homemade ginger beer. Now if I were really ambitious, I'd learn to make my own Milk Stout.

oh milk stout is easy. Make a stout and add lactose during the boil. Gives an excellent mouthfeel.

The ginger bear is super simple. Ground ginger, sugar, boiled up in water. Cool, add bread yeast. DONE.
