Hey I just started out here to count my calories and I want to gain weight.
I mostly use the 5x5 program in the gym and that obviously also burns calories. Is there a way I can track those calories because it seems that only the cardiovascular excersises can be tracked to calories

cheers Lars

Log individual sets of strength training exercises in the Strength Training list - it will not account for calories burned.

When completed, go to Cardiovascular and search for "Strength Training (weight lifting, weight training)" entry.

Enter the approximate total minutes, take a look at how many calories it suggested for that many minutes (for me, 60 minutes = 187 Cals per MFP), then adjust the number of minutes to get the number of Calories you want it to record. If I train for 60 minutes, I will enter only 30 minutes of Cardiovascular "Strength Training" so it doesn't overestimate the number of calories burned.

Thanks alot! and I suppose you record half the time to account for rest between sets et cetera?

I was in weight loss and am now in maintenance mode, so I follow what some of the MFP members suggest, which is to record only 50% of the Calories burned estimated by the MFP activity calculator or other activity trackers - YMMV (your mileage may vary).
