I've never cooked it before but I love it. I have it out to thaw tonight and am looking for quick simple ways to make it. I've searched on-line and found some recipes but I really want to hear from people that have personally cooked it. Can you give me some suggestions?

  • I love mahi mahi. I've baked it with garlic, lime juice, cilantro, pepper, sea salt and some cayenne pepper. You can also grill it and mix it with vegetables or pasta. One time I made mahi mahi enchiladas = grilled it with lime juice, sea salt, cilantro, pepper, then stuffed into into tortillas, poured some enchilada sauce and cheese over them, baked 'em.

Mahi mahi can be used in any white fish recipe (except for MAYBE swordfish). So you see cod, grouper, haddock, snapper, or any salt water whitefish you're good. You're probably even good with subbing it with tilapia, bass, or bream.

But really just about all whitefish are interchangeable in cooking.

I prefer it grilled with just a squirt of lime juice and a light sprinkling of something spicy. Or grilled with a mixture of miso and soy sauce and rice vinegar, over rice or soba noodles.

It's such a large-flake fish, it stands up pretty well to grilling, and it soaks up the smoky flavor very well.
