Problems with appetite

So, I've begun reclaiming my body a week ago. My physical stats are H: 5'8" W: 254 A:24. My goal is to shed 80lbs. To maintain my weight, I would have to eat 2800ish calories a day. My allotted calories for the day is 1750ish. I've cut out refined carbs and refined sugar. I'm burning, on average, 400 calories a day, so that'd put me at 2150 I need to consume a day. I'm having a hard time even eating the original 1750. I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm eating just as often as before, just different food. So, every day, I've had over 1000 calories left over. Am I supposed to force myself to eat even when I don't feel hungry? Am I doing it all wrong? I can't fail at this. I just can't. Not anymore. I'd really appreciate help.

Stop eating "Diet" food = Problem solved.

I just want to know if it's wrong of me to have that high of a calorie deficit at my weight. I'm still physically satisfied with what I'm eating. I actually think I'm eating more because I'm totally into numbers and I like logging. Should I purposely eat more if I don't feel hungry at all?

Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. Give your body time to adjust to your diet. You may find that your appetite eventually catches up.

What have you been eating that makes you so full?

Have you added a lot more fiber like veggies and fruit?

Have you been drinking a lot more water?
  • You can live with far less calories as long as you are getting enough nutrients and liquids. If you are eating far less calories but nutrient rich food, it is probably fine and you will probably feel hungry if you aren't getting enough.

I don't think your numbers are right. Almost all the BMR calculators are not accurate for people whose bodyfat is that high, because they project linearly from the measured population, who had lower bodyfat. The number you're working with may be a TDEE number, meaning it includes your daily exercise. So you'd eat the same no matter whether you exercise or not.

What's your activity level before exercise? And do you exercise (or not) the same every day, or do you have hard workouts some days and not others?

You need to find a long-term sustainable dietary pattern that balances nutrients, energy, fiber, and your personal preferences.

If you're not hungry, you have plenty of energy including to power your workouts, you're getting your nutrients and you're eating at least 1200 calories per day, there is no reason to increase your intake.

You may find that as time goes on you'll want to allow for more food. No point setting your budget too low, then feeling like a failure and giving up when you were doing just fine. A week in really isn't long enough to see if it's working for you.

Welcome to the site, and feel free to friend me.

I'm drinking crazy water (3.75L a day), and yes, lots of veggies. Not so much fruit but I do get some for my morning snack and with breakfast. I do a salad for lunch with a lean protein. And dinner is always different but always reasonable. Lean protein and cooked vegetables. I love healthy food. I just cut out the bad stuff that I also love.

Zarckon, I go on a 20 minute walk every morning after I eat. (I have a chubby hound dog. I'm getting her in shape, too.) After, I do a little bit of strength. I sometimes walk at night, sometimes in the afternoon, for another 20. That's more active than I've been in 5 years. I will definitely add you. All of my friends are skinny couch potatoes so they don't understand my current inner struggles. I just had the misfortune of not having an insanely high metabolism. Lol
