Because I received a 60 day free membership promotion in the mail. Any suggestions on the best things to buy to support a healthy diet? Is it really affordable.

I have never been there, but have a Sam's Club membership. Produce can be cheap, dairy (greek yogurt, milk, etc) is cheap, eggs are reasonably priced, and I get frozen stuff there - frozen veggies or fruit, cases of frozen veggie burgers / regular burgers / etc. As far as the non-produce/frozen items, I don't buy much - because there are only 2 of us in my family and the stuff they sell in big quantities goes bad before we can use all of it, and my freezer is already packed with stuff! Sometimes you see the price of something there and are temped to buy it just because it's an enormous container of something... but keep in mind... can you use all of it before it goes bad? Do you need all of it? I had to ask myself this when an old college roommate and I bought not one, but two 5-gallon jars of pickles at Sam's Club :p

They also have cheap protein powder if I remember correctly. I think the one in my area has a 5lb bag of Muscle Tech chocolate protein powder for like $25.

Depends on your definition of healthy. I'd just buy a ton of nuts, Cheez-its, Larabars, Goldfish, Nutella, peanut butter, pretzels, and potato chips.
  • It's really not that much cheaper than comparison shopping at grocery stores. Some foods maybe, such as, breads, some produce, and some convenience foods, but to me it's not really worth it because I have a set grocery limit per month and I have the extra time to compare prices and go to different stores. If you don't have the extra time to comparison shop it may be beneficial. The good thing about BJs though is you can use 2 manufacters coupons on one item or one BJs coupon and one manufacters coupon on things.
