Bulking with a Bowflex

Ok. Let me start off by saying this a thread on behalf of a co-worker. I don't have or use a Bowflex, but we're both working out and he's looking to build more muscle. He owns, just bought, a bow flex machine to replace his older model, and I'm trying to get some advice on some routines or moves for bulking with what he's got. I'm planning to send him some reading materials to explain what a bulking diet looks like also. So a decent link encompassing that would be helpful also.
I'm on a cut and doing 5x5 to maintain atm in a gym, but I'd imagine some of those moves would be difficult on the bowflex.
Anyone have any ideas on moves?
Remember now, it's what he's got and he ain't joining a gym

is hoisting the entire rig up and down out of the question? i think this could be the exception where some sort of shoulder ("p pad") might be excusable.
otherwise.... i dunno. maybe seeing of the 5x5 movements could work on one???
for bulking, check what Rip says (startingstrength dot com) or the folks at t-nation (dot com) say. plow through the sups t-nation hawks, and you can find some bulking diets.
I don't think there is any good information about a bowfinger, except maybe the aforementioned "hoist that puppy up and down".
but - see how the bf version of the squat, press, dead might work and see how some sort of 5x5 would work for starters. check out Rip and t-nation and good luck!0 -
Thanks guys. Yeah I figured it was sort of a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. I'm sure something like 5x5 is adaptable to it, but it's likely more awkward than it would be beneficial.0

Long answer: Theoretically, yes, provided it gives enough resistance, but if he can get his money back he'd be better with a power cage, weights, and bench.
This, plus, he needs to be sure to eat at a calorie surplus.0
