Questions for dietician (type 2 diabetes)

I see a dietician today. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I want to ask her about the diet that would be right for me. I am not sure what else to ask. I hate it when I think of things after I get home.
I am not monitioring my blood sugar at home. My doctor said I just need to have it checked at regular intervals at a lab.

The best diet is the type you can stick to for the long run. Losing weight and exercising will significantly improve your health. If you have diabetes then you'll want to minimize sugar and high carb foods; particularly highly processed high carb foods.0
