Rowing for Females

Hello!

I've been on MFP for a few years as a runner/dieter. Unfortunately I blew through both my hip flexors. My Dr. suggested I try the rowing machine and I love it! I have read a lot of the forums in regards to damper settings/form/splits/etc. to find out what the basics are.
I've been rowing for a month now and I just did my first 10,000M today. I was kind of unhappy with my time (1hr 9minutes). I am wondering if this is normal or extremely slow. I am 120lbs, 5' 6" and 24.
Besides a few posts in different forums the only times I can really find are like Olympic records.
I guess I am wondering if anyone else started where I am and improved their times, and how long it took them to do so.
