whats your WHY in losing weight?

One word: children.
I have two. I remember my childhood with my overweight mother - who then became my overweight and chronically ill mother. Part of her issue was the unhealthy lifestyle she led and part eventually became side effects of her medicine. My family never really rained it in - although my Dad did control his portions and eating so never gained weight (just didn't pass that information along to us).
I don't want the formative memories my kids have being of a person who is unhappy, unhealthy and negative about the world because she feels her weight is sidelining her. I want them to think about mummy at the race, mummy at the gym, mummy swimming with them and loving her body and teaching them to love theirs. I want to model good eating habits for them and I want them to never have to work so hard as I did to take off weight that I gained from never having learned how to eat right and in reasonable portions.0 -
Here are my "why"'s of why I want to loose weight
I will be starting to get pregnant next fall/winter and I don't want there to be restriction's because of my weight. I want to have a healthy pregnancy with no complications or "at risks" because of me being over weight
I want to feel comfortable in my own skin and be proud of what I look like standing in front of the mirror wearing nothing
I want to be able to do more activities with my family as my mom/dad/brother are very outdoorsy and are very fit and I am restricted because I am easily tired and exhausted
I want to be proud of what I look like and show what true beauty looks like inside and out to my children one day
I want to be able to shop in ANY STORE0 -
1) To not suffer from sleep apnea (I felt it coming on)
2) To live to see grand kids
3) To not get diabetes (Runs in the family).
4) To get an average speed of 18mph on a bike0 -
1. I hate being chubby
2. I want to try on clothes in the store and actually buy more than I put back
3. I do not want to ever be asked if I am pregant when I am not, EVER AGAIN
4. I want to be able to wear a bikini and not feel like I need to put my shirt back on
5. I want to be considered hot by men when I pass by, including by my #1 Fan, the Hubs
6. I want to be able to keep up the kids
7. I don't want to embarrass the kids
8. My younger sister and I have somehow switched places. She was always the chubby one when I was stick thin as a child and teenager. I am super happy for her and amazed and so proud of her for what she has accomplished, but I hate that I have become the chubby one.
9. Diabetes and other health issues run in my family - hoping I can lower my chances
10. Did I mention I want to get new, nice "look at me" clothes?0 -
To never hear my daughter say "teehee Mommy!! You're fat! teehee"0

My health related motivation is that diabetes, high cholesterol and joint issues run in my family and I want to be able to run faster than those!
also...
I don't want to look at clothes and think 'will this hide my tummy pouch' or 'will that pull across my hips' anymore.
I want to smile when I see a camera rather than hiding.
I want to keep up with my daughter.
I want to set a good example of staying a healthy weight when I get to my ideal weight...that's going to be the toughest one but none of the others will be lasting if I can't do this one!0 -
To wear whatever the hell I want and look good in it. T-Shirt and skinny jeans? sounds great!
To build my self-esteem more and get confident
To be able to confidently wear a swimsuit this summer with my almost 2 year old0 -
1) To get pregnant, have a healthy pregnancy and be able to run around with my kids
2) My entire family is big, especially the women. I want to show my mom and sisters that it can be done, even though they're all lighter than me
3) To be able to fit in normal sized clothes
4) I have a pretty damn good shape hiding in this fat girl, I want to see that again!0
