I need all the support anyone can give me!!!! As we all know, gaining is so much easier than losing. After being very very disciplined for 1.5 yrs and lost 12 lbs, I started losing the discipline in the last 2 months, eating all my heart desired (esp. bad: eating tons of sweets!) and gained back 5 lbs. I need to lose these 5 lbs in one week because we have a college reunion in ONE week, and these are people I haven't seen for 18 yrs!!! I know I can depend on this passionate community of people for all motivational support I need! Please help!

I would suggest just focusing on turning the ship around, and get back on track to run a calorie deficit. Perhaps trim 1-2 pounds as a more realistic goal for only 1 week's time. 5 pounds is rather a stretch...

Yeah that's a bit much, but some things to help- eat very low sodium, drink lots of water; you can also use clothing tricks to help yourself look slimmer- from the colors you choose to the cut and style of clothes. Maybe even try some light spray tan to help you look a bit slimmer. In the end, don't worry so much about how you look- everybody ages. Focus on reconnecting and seeing old friends again and having some fun.

If some of the weight you've put on is water weight from eating badly, you may be closer to your goal than you think. Drink water and eat more fiber - vegetables, fruit, and whole grains. Avoid salty foods like chips and most restaurant food. The upside of this approach is your skin will look better too!

Apart from water weight, it is REALLY hard to lose 5 lbs in a week if you're not extremely overweight.

I only say this because when I started cutting out snacks during work and drinking more water, my scale showed a drop of 8.2 pounds in the first 7 days. I've continued eating in the same calorie range since then and have been losing 1-2 pounds a week.

    Hope this helps.
