Reflecting on my first 90 days and loss of 15.5 lbs

This is my first 90 days using MyFitness Pal and tracking calories. In that time I lost 15.5 LBS (Started at 217.5 and ended at 202) I had a plan of 14 weeks and 1 lb per week. I actually reached my goal in 12 weeks and at 14 weeks 1.5 lbs more.
Reflecting back, here are the things I have learned:
Moving Forward - Holiday Season
My next phase is not a 14 week plan, but 5 weeks - the new goal is under 200 lbs.
I will take the week of Thanksgiving off as in, there is no goal to lose 1 lb that week, just to maintain my current weight at the beginning of that week and end the week at the same weight.
Next Step
Improve the nutritional value of the foods that I eat.
I'm not a big fan of kale, but I keep hearing how good it is for you.
I've also heard that you have to eat something 17 times before you acquire a taste for it.
I'm going to give it a try.
Reflecting back, here are the things I have learned:
- Pre-plan meals before going out, look at restaurant websites and decide based on calories what you will eat
- I changed my reading habits to add healthy eating to my news reader so I get articles on better nutrition along with my other interests
- Salad dressings are much worse than I thought (as far as calories go)
- My favorite places to eat have great salads. (ex: Culver’s Hamburger place has a great salad)
- I like fruit in my salad
- No heartburn or stomach issues, before I was having issues often at night
- Not snoring at night
- By using MyFitness Pal for 90 days I have a real good idea of the caloric content of foods just by looking at the ingredients
- I tend to shop by looking at the caloric content of a serving more that the price of the food
