Eating 'clean' and feeling better

After having a bit of a tummy bug, I decided it would do me good to try 'eating clean'.
It was easy to find a list of foods and free recipe plans and easy to get the groceries in normal stores.
After just two days, I am already starting to feel better with more energy too.
I've filled up on fruit, veggies and lean white meat.
Wondering if I am imagining that I feel better or whether two days could really have made a difference already?
Does anyone have experience of doing this for a sustained period?
I think it would be sustainable in the long term but I would doubtless need an allowance for occasional alcohol and some treats too.

Depending on what you were eating before, it is possible that you would feel better after cleaning up your diet for 2 days. It is just as possible that you would have felt better after 2 days anyway as your body fought off whatever bug was bothering you.
If you felt bad in general (before you got this bug) and you were eating a lot of junk, then cleaning up your diet is probably a good idea. There is no evidence that one needs to eat 100% clean to feel good, look good or be healthy, though. Sometimes a little dirty food is just what is needed for satiety and sanity.0 -
I try to eat as clean as possible most of the time.
While part of it may be in your head, a lot of that is what helps you feel better. Eating cleaner is not just good for you, in my opinion, it will help reduce impact of environmental effects on health. Good for you!
Eating clean though as a lifestyle seems like a super simple no brainer to me, and I honestly don't see it being incompatible with treats or alcohol as long as you keep it within reason. Just moderate, and live.0 -
I've been eating healthily for the last 15 years after I had some food intolerances - I had no choice but to avoid all processed foods! Best thing that ever happened to me! I learnt to cook and its one of my great pleasures in life. Way back in 1999 I had to do exclusion diets for the intolerances and they went totally in about 2 years (of trial and error when reintroducing -though I don't eat too much fruit as its citrus and wheat I can't take in high quantities even now).
My diary is open, you'll see I still have wine (just for the anti oxidants of course . To me my diary looks normal and healthy 90% of the time with the occasional takeaway thrown in. I started at same goal to lose 14lb for same reasons as you about 8 weeks ago I'm shaping up nicely and now aiming for 126lb goal weight (only 4 to go!) Feel free to add me as a friend if you like, I log everything0 -
I always feel better eating fresh fruit, veggies, meat (lean or not) and a few servings of cottage cheese a day.
I am feeling horrid today too, I have a stomach bug.
Eating outside of my norm really takes its toll on me and I have just learned it isn't worth it.0
