Why do I feel like this?

Why is it that after I exercise, I am in a horrible, irritable, and crappy mood the rest of the day? I though it was suppose to be a mood lifter.

That's literally the opposite of how I feel after I exercise. Maybe you're doing it wrong...

But how can I do it wrong? It's anything from when I go on hikes to when I'm running, or if I lift some weights. I can't be doing it ALL wrong, can I? lol

Do you enjoy the workout itself? Are you eating to fuel the workout and to support your body through recovering from the workout?

Sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes not. It all depends on stress level before. And yes I am.

Most people don't need to eat before or during a workout, or have recovery food afterwards, unless they are doing really intense workouts. I save the recovery drink (low-fat chocolate milk) for when I've been on my bike for more than a couple hours, or I've been climbing hills the whole time.

But some people get really irritated if their blood sugar dips too low (I am married to one of them, so I know what it can be like on the other side). That could be the case with you. Try having some easily digestible carbs after your workout - eat an orange or a banana, or have some juice. See whether that makes a difference. Also, make sure you're staying hydrated. You don't want to go crazy on drinking water, which can in rare cases lead to hyponatremia (AKA water poisoning), but you should be sure to have enough.

How long have you been working out? The first time I dropped a whole mess of weight, and was going to the gym 3 - 5 times per week, it took a good few weeks until I didn't feel so crappy afterward that I wanted to choke the nearest person.

Well at first I was doing Insanity 6 days a week. I felt like that. And then recently, I started back up, but not insanity, just light work like hiking, light weights, a little bit of jogging, etc. And I still feel like that.

I am drinking tons of water. But, maybe it could be my blood sugar. I will try that, thank you.

I get irritated if I notice I'm going to burn out from exercise and not eating enough. Maybe you're not consuming enough calories? Maybe you should log your moods along with exercise and calories. You may see a pattern.

The only times I don't feel pretty awesome afterwards have been:

-When I had a physical problem
-When I began working out after not doing it for a long time (so tired for a couple weeks)
-If I haven't eaten enough (but I usually don't eat enough only because I'm sick, so the sick thing could've been the cause, too)

I always feel great after swimming or running. I feel nothing after doing the weight machines. Later, I might get sore, but it never makes my body hum or pumps me up like cardio does.
