Saturday binging...Am I alone?

Okay so I have a huge problem with sticking to my diet completely. I need some day in between where I can binge a lot and treat myself with 1000+ more calories than usual.
I would like to stop doing this though. Anyone have any advice for a binger like me?

People generally binge for one of 2 reasons... Restricting calories too much or eating their feelings.0

I'm gonna splurge
And I have 2200 calories saved for dinner and wine tonight from the week and that's after stealing a slice of pizza from my son
I just didn't eat my exercise cals most of this week0 -

Instead of a cheat day, have a cheat meal. Set aside an extra 100 cal per day the rest of the week, and then just have whatever the heck you'd like for dinner on Saturday, or whenever.
One meal would be extremely difficult to blow your overall progress even if you weren't setting aside extra calories, but one entire day definitely could.0 -

This! It's much easier to save up for a meal rather than try to recover from a cheat day, which may take several days to make up for.
I'd probably start with changing your profile pic from a cookie to something else

Is there something you can do that would be more productive to help your feelings? Maybe relax or talk to someone.
Are you sure you are getting enough to eat? I usually binge when I am very hungry.0 -
Will go over a little the odd day but not every weekend or else it shows my diet us not sustainable long term.0

What usually works for me is eating what I want within my macros. Sometimes ill have days where I eat nothing but honey buns or sushi , but stick to my maintenance calories rather than my deficit. I feel like I splurged but no harm done haha. Do what works for you cuz everyone is different. I eat a treat or two everyday to keep my binges at bay. 87 lbs down so far.0

Uhhh I try not to binge but on the weekends when my schedule is irregular. Sometimes when I'm tempted to throw my diet to the wind I excercise for a while instead, then I go eat something to use up those extra calories. Low-impact version of a binge0

First...thanks all for your responses. It definately helps out with some advice from likeminded people
You sure are inspiring me to stop with those cheat days and take cheat meals sometimes when I want. It sure is a lot easier...
My binges are outrageous but I don't gain any weight from it. I actually sometimes binge both friday and saturday and those calories can be from 1.5k - 2k calories extra.
I dont have a problem with weight but I sure feel so bad about these binges, and I work out really hard during the weeks with such motivation...and I just ruin it every weekendTavistockToad wrote: »People generally binge for one of 2 reasons... It is a great idea to go out and exercise when I want to binge, and no, I might not be eating enoughKameHameHaaaa wrote: »What usually works for me is eating what I want within my macros. Glad thats working out for you I can't do that because I never feel an urge to eat "normal" food that not "super-healthy". My urges are more full of sugar lol...

This. For me it was a combination, but mostly the latter. I keep on top of it now in two ways. First was allowing myself a small treat every day, so I don't feel the need to "reward" myself at the end of the week. Second was recognising when I was eating for emotions and finding some other way to deal with them. Whatever works, sometimes it's exercise. Other times music (usually angry chick songs, lol) helps. Sometimes it's just getting away from the situation for a few minutes to breathe.0 -

Saturday is my planned day to go over calories. It's usually about 6oz of vodka. The rest of the week I don't eat back most of my exercise cals. If you know you do it, and that's the only day you do it, exercise and plan accordingly during the week to accommodate it. Maybe the permission to have a treat will kill any guilt, and you might not go as nuts on the binge?
Just my thoughts. Hope you figure it out, OP.

I feel like this is something I need to do also can total relate to what your saying accept my munch night is not what people would call a typical treat its Pizza/Chips and cheese can of coke then munch's from Shop & end up gone on a week munch then feel depressed at the end when I went to slimming world they told me a good way for night time snacks or treats is freezing yoghurt low fat ones then eating them like you would ice-cream on whatever but only have one tube or freezing your fruit & Making smoothies hope that helped0

Let me add a 3rd reason ... boredom. If I have a quiet day at home, I sometimes find myself nibbling mindlessly, and once it starts, it adds up quickly.
So, I now make a point of keeping busy. If I'm out and about a) food is not within arm's reach and b) I'm burning more calories because at a minimum, I'm off walking somewhere.
The possible 4th reason is that you're not eating enough, so you are binging because you are hungry, but your diary isn't public, so we can't peek and assess.
Good luck!
