Since I signed up on mfp my go-to calorie burner has been jogging. If I need to burn 100 extra calories, I go for a five min run and voila!
In the last week or so I developed this really intense pain in my left foot. I've had a sprain there before so maybe this is related... Anyway I'm seeing a doctor this week about it, but I'm guessing no matter what I'm not going to be running for a while.
I'm not really a weight-lifting kind of gal...
What can I do to burn cals if I can't use my feet???

depends on what you mean by "using" feet, cycling is a go to for me when I have a lame leg.
Another one is swimming, then I do crawl with my ankles tied together.0 -
I'm in the same boat. I can't do anything while standing for the time being until my foot/ankle heal.
So, my doctor and physical therapist advised me to sit and do weight training (weights wrapped around my legs; holding hand weights); to use the recumbent bike; to do planks, bridges, cobras and other things that can be done lying down; to use black resistance bands while seating or lying down.
They said all of these things are safe and won't put stress on my foot/ankle.0 -
You need to speak to the Dr or a physio who can advise on sports injuries and suggest exercises you can safely do. Maube your gym has a kranking machine and those only use upper body. Swimming as suggested above would be good. If you can bear some weight, then the eliptical and rower might be an option and they could give you as much cardio as you need.0

first, while i hate to rain on your parade, it is unlikely that you are burning twenty calories a minute. for example, if you weigh 180 lbs and run a six minute mile on the flat (which is a pretty freaking fast, sub forty-minute 10K pace) you'd burn 102 calories. see this site for a good calculator. that said, rowing is a good alternative that isn't hard on the feet.0

If you have a sprain - do what your doctor says. If it's just a strain, be careful, but have it checked out too. If it's broken, see your orthopedist and have an x-ray - probably good to have an x-ray anyway.0
