You buy that workout DVD, that game, that gym membership and use it. But soon enough, you seriously can't be arsed. Going from "I promise, to stick with it and use it a lot" to "ugh, I don't WANNA !"

I do get this way, but feel better once I make myself get up and do it lol. I want to go down in clothing sizes (already have some bigger ones to donate), so that is my motivation0

I go through spells where I go to the gym, then ignore it for weeks. But only for about a month, as compared to the 2+ years I had the membership before I started losing weight.0

With workout DVDs, it's REALLY hard for me to stick to them. I've completed 3 programs but I'm done, never buying one again. I'd much rather lift weights at my own pace for 20 minutes (I hate weights, but I can do 20 minutes 3x a week), or doing cardio for an hour where I can at least listen to my music.
You got to find something you like (or really, don't dislike too much in some cases).0 -
The hospital where I work allows employees to use the exercise equipment in the Cardiac Rehab area after patient hours. While I prefer to run and walk outdoors, the weather and time as it gets dark so early this time of the year do not allow this. For the last several weeks I have been hitting the treadmills 3times a week. I had planned to go last Friday. I had my gym bag with me but as the day went on I just wasn't feeling it. I decided to just go home. I was about half way home and started feeling guilty for skipping my workout.
To make up for skipping Friday, I layered up and went out for a walk/run yesterday...in the cold.0 -
Find something that you like to do. I could never do DVDs that sounds hella boring.0

Yes. This is something I experience with almost everything that pushes me out of my comfort zone, but I just have to think about why I am doing this, and not even present it as a choice, but an obligation. After a while it becomes habit.0

Nope. When I make a vow to do something, I stick to my word. Otherwise my word has no value.0

Definitely. I used to do this all the time, but I've gotten better at it. I don't like feeling rotten afterwards when I was only trying to help myself out. It's counterproductive. So I try to only buy DVDs (to use your example) that I know I will do. I'll ask myself, you have access to yoga videos on youtube, when was the last time you did a yoga video on youtube? And now you want to pay for one? So I'll opt for something closer to what I'm more likely to do, so I'm excited to try it even after the excitement of proclaiming change wears off.
If I do buy that yoga DVD, I tell myself that I have to do it at least 3 times. It's pretty easy to commit to something for only 3 times. If I don't like it, then I know that yoga isn't for me and no guilt is involved because I gave it a fair shake.0 -

I usually make it to New Year's - because that's why I asked for all that stuff for Christmas so I could do my New Year's Resolution.0
