Dude, you can grow them yourself, seriously. Get one of those odd little plastic fiber reusable bags from like Trader Joes, right? Put dirt in it, add dandelion seeds (free from any park) and water them.
Would that be possible to do inside a college dorm room? Because that's where I currently live.
I knew some people who grew mushrooms in dorm rooms, so possibly.
That sounds a little gross, but okay. Once it gets sunnier (dead of winter right now) and I have access to seeds, I might give it a shot.
She's not talking for culinary use there dear.
Oh, I see. Yeah, I'm a bit of an innocent. Sheltered life, Catholic college, the works.
I wouldn't have ever classified them as innocent. lol.
Yeah, you see about a 50/50 split here at my school. Some are very far removed from innocent, others are 20 year old virgins that watch cartoons on the weekends (cough cough)0 -
Packaged shredded cabbage (cole slaw), kale snipped with scissors, 1tblsp of Craisins, 1 tblsp roasted pumkin seeds, 1-2 Tblsp Litehouse poppyseed dressing. Delicious and takes quite awhile to eat. Another favourite is watermelon salad with fresh mint, feta cheese and a balsamic and oil dressing. It's really good on a bed of red leaf lettuce. My third favourite is spring greens or any lettuce, 2 oz of chicken breast meat (which comes frozen and I boil a couple of pieces at at time), 1/2 an avocado, red onion, and Kraft Asian Sesame dressing. The chicken can be replaced with a hard boiled egg and it's good with any other dressing also.0

Ooh, sounds yummy! I'll do my best to recreate them with the materials I have.0 -

Biggest part of the college experience is changing that.0 -

Yeah, no. Not in the cards for me. Not risking getting pregnant and having to drop out and being looked down on by my family.0 -
I like half and half mix for my base (baby lettuces & baby spinach), and a favorite is chicken, walnut, pear, and bleu cheese.0

You're in college right...So I assume you know about contraceptives. Anyway. SALAD THREAD.0 -
And now, back to our show!
My current pre-holiday salad may seem a bit odd, but it's actually pretty flavorful and satisfying (I know, but that's a joke for a different forum...) Any kind of lettuce, tomato, cukes, scallions, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots. For dressing, I use a couple of tablespoons of salsa. My favorite is Green Mountain Gringo "hot". The stuff is very low in calories and sodium, and this time of year, a smarter choice for me than even "diet" dressings. If I want to make it a meal, I just add some grilled chicken.0 -
Spinach, roasted butternut squash, quinoa, dried cranberries, goat cheese, white balsamic vinegar dressing.0
-
Oh, I still never actually contributed anything to this thread. My salads are red leaf lettuce, red cabbage, a white cheese (goat or mozzarella), a protein (chicken, turkey, tuna), tomato, lite balsamic, mushroom...Nothing fancy.0
