Polar H7 HRM stopped working - now what? (UK based)

I bought a Polar H7 bluetooth HRM sensor 3 months ago to use with my iPhone 4s. I've become totally addicted to it, but yesterday (60 miles into a 75 mile bike ride) it just stopped working. I've tried changing the battery, restarting the phone/apps, "forgetting" the sensor and trying to find it again and nothing has worked. I bought it from Amazon and my other half suggested I contact them before Polar (having read that the latter are a bit useless to talk to) and have been advised to return it for a full refund which I will. They won't give an exchange as they have stopped selling the item due to customer issues - the following notice is currently on the item page (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Polar-Bluetooth-Sensor-Compatible-iPhone/dp/B007S088F4):

"Item Under Review

This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described.

We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may still find this product available from other sellers on this page."

I'm gutted. I'm cycling from London to Paris next week and was really looking forward to tracking calories burned as it motivates me more than anything. But I've lost faith in Polar.

What should I get? I found the Polar chest strap really comfortable and I liked that it connected to my phone (which I always have on me) rather than a watch. I don't know where to start now, but I really want to have a replacement that I can trust before leaving for Paris next Thursday!

Thank you.

I have the H7 and never had any issues with it - I've been using it 4 to 6 times a week since November 2012. I assume you just got a bad one. I think there's a new version out now - the H6. Maybe see if you can find that one?
