Tips to help me stop eating!

I can never seem to get full. I am constantly physically and mentally hungry. I try to eat smaller portions, but then I just wind up eating more small portions! I get protein in every meal, so I don't think that's the problem. I am definitely not full/satisfied if I don't have some sort of carbs (bread, pasta, crackers, whatev). It's getting really annoying watching my weight slowly creeping back up. Or shooting back up over a single day. Any tips? Easy recipes (easy meaning easy to make but also inexpensive and with NORMAL ingredients that I don't have to search all over the planet for) that will help me stay fuller longer? I'm tired of watching every bite I eat and never being happy (or looking good) while at the same time watching my 120lb. sisters and friends eat McDonalds and Chick-Fil-A every day and never gain an ounce.

Have you tried the old trick of drinking a full glass of water 30 minutes before a meal? That helps me. Also, take small bites and chew them thoroughly. I do that to slow myself down; I enjoy eating, and if I don't watch myself, I find myself eating long after I have stopped feeling hungry. There's a difference between being full and not wanting to eat any more, because food tastes good!
More generally, if you want to feel full faster, foods with lots of fiber are your friends. Variations on rice and beans are easy, don't require special ingredients, and are filling. Brown rice takes longer to cook than white rice, but it has over 2.5 times as much fiber. Rice and beans dishes are more interesting if you add spices; some spices seem expensive, but remember, you're saving money by using rice and beans! I like Hoppin' John, which is rice and black-eyed peas seasoned with onions and bacon. (Google recipes for details.) The beans provide fiber, and a little bit of bacon provides lots of flavor.
BTW, if your weight shoots up over 1 day, it's almost certainly because you ate more salt than usual and you're retaining water. Don't beat yourself up over that.0
