We have been together 9 years, I ran out of ideas!! So I decided to buy my hubby a race for his Christmas - just a little 5k in Edinburgh that comes with medal AND a t-shirt (very rare here!). I also bought him a Runfie teeshirt that he expressed interest in and of course, Im getting him his favourite chocolate. He enjoys running (not as much as me) but hes completed a half this year plu s a couple of 10k runs. All my friends say its a horrible gift to give someone and just because thats a gift I would love, does not make a happy hubby :( i am right though? right?

I <3 useful gifts that reflect my interests. It's thoughtful - you didn't just grab some random thing off a shelf. Unless there's something else you know he REALLY wants, this sounds like a good gift to me.

I think it is a thoughtful gift. if he has shown interest in the t-shirt and he likes to run. even if he does not love to run like you do its a great present. I have a box full of tolietries and other xmas presents I did not want or need. And leaving near Edinburgh myself, I would skip the pocket knife. The wildest thing for us is the wind or freshers week lol

Question?: Are you running also? something you can do together is a great idea. To be honest to me it would be horrible, but I hate running and it would seem like more of a punishment than a present. Good luck.

Maybe if you threw in some running shoes or something then that might make it better

i would like to think you know your husband better than i do and if you think he'll like it then he'll like it.

Sounds like it would be good, but you could add a nice little pocket knife if you have doubts.

so he can knife her if he thinks its a rubbish present!?

Only you will know whether he will really like it or if you bought it more for you. None of us know either of you.

running shoes are too dear. Im pretty skint just now so we have a limit of £50 spend each on each other - no more!
    - oh and he would much prefer a PS4! sadly my pennies wont quite stretch to that!

Are your friends married to your husband? Pretty sure as you're the one who's been with him for 9+ years, you'd know more than them what to buy him!

It sounds like a really thoughtful present - something a bit different that will bring you happy times and memories.

I love that you're doing it with him and that you've already arranged for a babysitter. My husband and I like to give each other gifts of experiences rather than more stuff. This will be a memory for you two to share, which will last longer than material goods that lose their specialness after a while. Well done!

Can you add in a massage or a hotel for after the run? Or have someone watch the kids overnight? Make it romantic for the two of you? That sounds like it would be something to make it 'over the top'.
