I bought a used weider pro bench press and I dont know how much the bar alone weighs. Anyone know? I was unable to find it online. I dont own a scale (go me!) so Im not able to check it at home myself. TIA

Is it Olympic or regular? How long is it? Is it a curl bar?

You will likely have to weigh it.

or you could just weigh yourself then weigh yourself holding the bar and work it out.

Although a straight normal bar will normally be 10kg or 20kg if it's an olympic one(2'' holes in the plates over 1'' for normal)

Whats the difference between normal and olympic?

I cant weigh it...I dont own a scale. Novel idea I know.

If it is a normal straight bar then the bit on the end where the plates go is a different diameter. 1'' is the normal bar and is normally 10kg, 2'' is the olympic bar and 20kg.

I could be wrong on the difference, but visually the biggest thing is the ends - the olympic bars are larger than "normal" ones.

Note the size difference of the center holes...

The length makes a difference as well. Without more information there's no way to say how much it weighs.

I have a 72" long 1" bar that is 15 pounds. Then the bar that came with my el cheapo bench weighs little enough that I don't even count its weight.

If it is an olympic bar it will weigh 20kg as thats kind of the point about calling it an olympic bar. the others I didn't realise come in different lengths plus of course in the US you still work with pounds so that changes things again.

    A MEN's Oly bar is 45 lb.
    A WOMEN's Oly bar is 33 lb.

The two I have at home both weigh 20 lb.

My point? Find/buy/borrow a scale and weigh it.

33 pound weight bar. interesting. I think thats what they got at the golds gym I used to go to. Explains why the bars are so much thinner then my school gyms.

I didn't know this either, which explains why my gym has about many 20kg bars and one 15kg one.

They are shorter too. A men's bar is 7' and a women's bar is usually 6'

The longer standard sized Oly bar is 45 lb.
The shorter Oly bar is 33 lb.

Fixed... There are no men's or women's bars, there are bars used to fit the need.
