When I'm travelling I like to take Hard Boiled eggs - leave shells on and they are fine w/o refrigeration/cooling for the travel day kept in a ziplock in your purse. You may want to peel them somewhere in private - you know how eggs can smell to some people, lol. High in protein low in calories, easy to pack and if you do a half dozen, you can keep them over ice in a ziplock (in the ice bucket in your hotel room for a few days, draining off water and replenishing ice of course). I love to get extra Wendy's Restaurant hot chili seasoning packets when I'm there to eat with the eggs another day.
    - Plus all the veggie advice and easy fruit and nut choices everyone else here has suggested.

Never would have thought about eggs...such a good idea. thanks so much!
  • I don't know if anyone mentioned this but I saw it on a cooking show once as a sneaky way to get kids to eat their veggies and I use it to get an extra helping of veggies while cutting down carbs. Steam some cauliflower and put it in a food processor and cut your mashed potatoes with it. I know mashed potatoes are usually present at big family gatherings (well some sort of potato dish). The nice thing about this is you can add as much or as little cauliflower as you like.
  • P.S. I'm pretty sure I misunderstood the topic but it's still a fun idea. :)
