Okay, this is branching off from the girly romantic comedy thread. Wifey and I love us some classic holiday movies. However, we also love the off-holiday movies. Our absolute favorite "Christmas" movie: DIE HARD!

What are your favorite whacky, scary, weird, quirky or otherwise OFF holiday movies. I expect something to do with Christmas, Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, Chanauhaka (Chewbacca?) or some holiday tradition (religious or otherwise).

Not sure they are non-Holiday, but Bad Santa (unrated version) makes me pee my pants every time I see it. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a classic. Home Alone and Gremlins are good ones to watch with the little(r) ones.

But the best of all that fits this category: TRADING PLACES

Trading Places is one of my wife's new favorites. I think it's making it's way under the tree this year.

Does Lethal Weapon take place around Christmas? I hate to admit, but I've never seen a Lethal Weapon all the way through.

Harry Potter! I'm a Harry Potter nerd and so is my husband. They always seem to play them during the 25 days of Christmas, I'm pretty sure it's just because they have a Christmas break in their school year. LOL. "Happy Christmas" everyone! :-P

Well I guess if someone said "play a christmas movie" I might offer Christmas Vacation or A Christmas Story or Jingle All the Way. I guess if they said "play a regular movie" but it were on christmas I'd play Sleepless in Seattle or Star Wars depending on who was in the room, moms and kids or dads and kids.

Unsure if I got the meaning right of not holiday holiday movie but this seems to be what you were asking.

Is Antichrist the one with Willem Dafoe and the snipping off of a particularly hard to find female part? Dear lord, I don't think I'm man enough to watch that one (though plenty of people have told me about it).

When my cousins and I were pretty young, the adults would get together on Christmas Eve and make fondue, drink wine, have adult conversation and do other things that were BORING as a youngin'. We would get a Domino's pizza and watch Predator 2 at the tender ages of 6-12. How's that for a holiday tradition?

My friends and I often have a LOTR trilogy extended version marathon, so that we can enjoy each other's company that much longer. With the final instalment of The Hobbit coming out this year, we're planning to do a LOTR + The Hobbit extended version (yes, of all 6 movies) marathon next year. Good movies, good friends and good food. :)
