Hi, All:
I have just returned to MFP and WW to begin my get healthy mission again. I was on MFP about 2 years ago and was thrown off when a mammogram turned up a need for a biopsy. Given how rampantly cancer runs in my family, this is scary stuff.
I have been an emotional eater for about as long as I have been married and had my husband go on a one year military hardship deployment the 2nd year of our marriage in 1980. With the possible cancer scare, I was thrown off of my weight loss journey and have take far too long to return to it. I am glad to report I am back on track though!
My husband and I have raised two children, our son is soon to be 25 years old and our daughter, 27. We are also "parents" of our small dog "crew" and I work canine rescue in my "free" time. I also work at a local ER part time for a paycheck to help me fund my rescue habit
In the early 2000's, I had become a WW Lifetime member by losing appx. 50 lbs. I should have continued to monitor my weight by routinely attending a WW meeting once a month. This would have probably kept me on track. I want to reclaim my WW LT goal.
I have been a chronic pain sufferer since the late 1990s. Primarily migraines, Fibromyalgia and IBS. I have had a handful or so of surgeries since that time. I should be much lighter just from all the organs I have had removed over the years
Not happening... lol!
If you are also a chronic pain sufferer, I am sure you are also aware of the threat that over-exercising presents. And, that not eating healthy presents... I empathize fully.
I welcome the opportunity to get to know friends through MFP who can understand and commiserate with the special nuances that chronic pain syndromes create. I hope to create a group on (and off?) of like-minded MFP members which encourages, chastises, promotes discipline and personal growth, educates, reaches shared goals from our mutual journey, loves, cries, understands the grief of being a C.P.S., and appreciates one another.
I have provided a bit of an introduction into who I am. Won't you please reciprocate in kind?
If you are interested in joining such a group, please let me know.
Thank you! Peace and joy in your personal life journey!

Hi,
My name is Sandy & I would definitely be interested in joining a group. I too am an emotional eater and I've had a lifetime of eating my feelings. I too am the mother to 2. My son is 29 and my daughter is 25 and she still lives with me. I have been married twice (I think I'm done with that lol ). My daughter & I share an apartment now.
I have been suffering migraines since I was in my teens, they are severe & frequent, I spend way too much time in a dark room. I also suffer from arthritis & crohn's disease. I may also suffer from chronic fatigue. Exercising has become a challenge, when I feel well enough to workout then I'm down for the count for 2 days after. I do hold down a full time job as well.
That being said, I am watching what I'm eating. Logging everything that I eat and have lost 37 lbs so far. I have a long way to go but I'm doing it, one step at a time.
It would be nice to have some support from people who understand the challenges.
Thanks for offering to set this up.0 -
Hi, Sandy!
So nice to hear from you! I appreciate your sharing and encouraging feedback. I see so many patients come into the ER where I work with migraines. I truly feel their pain - sometimes from too marked of a recollection, other times much more literally than I care to think about as I push through my work day. I fully empathize with your chronic pain challenges and look forward to sharing with you as we both maintain a well balanced day to day journey to become healthier. I totally know can relate to the one day exercise, two days knocked off of our keisters for overexerting. We will carry on, perhaps with even a little more determination due to our medical histories. Peace and joy in your journey, Sandy! I look forward to building a friendship with you.0 -
i have chronic pain. for years i dealt with it, migraines, ibs, fatigue, and other things. nobody could tell me why. so they dxd me with fibromyalgia. eventually i was dxd with ehlers-danlos syndrome type 3. which caused all my issues. i still live with chronic pain and fatigue but i now have more info on why and it makes it easier to live with.
good luck. and gentle hugs!0 -
So good to hear from you! What doesn't break you makes you, so it is said. Looks like you have a good handle on things. It is too bad that some of us must accept pain as a constant foe. Perhaps though it all though, it makes us stronger and more resilient as a person. Welcome to the group! Looking forward to getting to know you more!0
