Understand Apple's HealthKit, Working with MFP, and your Activity Tracker

For the past year and half I've been reviewing and testing various activity trackers for a blog. I've also worked hard to lose weight and get in better shape, all while using MyFitnessPal as my main, central hub. During that time I've learned how devices from Fitbit, Garmin, Withings, Jawbone, and many others, work with the MFP database.
As an avid Apple fan, iOS phone owner, and curious techie, it was exciting when Apple announced their HealthKit platform. As the weeks have passed I've seen more and more of the apps that I use (RunKeeper, Strava, just to name a few) add HealthKit sharing. It seemed like this was a good time to check out what worked together and what did not.
My latest blog post talks about HealthKit, MyFitnessPal, and activity trackers. You can read all about it here:

If you have any questions please feel free to reply to my blog on my site itself. Or you can reply here and I'll do my best to answer questions or concerns people have. I think it is important that people grasp their actual caloric daily burn (activity tracker), but also properly record their cardio exercises with a heart rate monitor and proper device/app to go along with that, too.
Cheers-- happy holidays!
