Thoughts on PSMF?

Anybody ever done a short Protein-Sparing Modified Fast and gotten good results? i'm feeling a little extra bloated and huge after a 1 week gain of 15lbs eating a ton of crap, candy, bacon, and beer...wanted to do a little quick reversing on that number. Im considering a PSMF for the next two days, but wondering if the protein is necessary as long as i don't work out too hard. I know even on 5/2 diets the two days have at least 500 cals, so i'm guessing a 48hr fast might be excessive, but what are thoughts on having like 800-1000 cals in protein shakes and chicken each of the next two days?

A short fast will probably not do long-term damage to an otherwise healthy body. If you're hell-bent on it, then that's what you need to do.
I think one day is more than enough to let your stomach shrink back down and readjust yourself to real hunger. No fast is really "healthy" eating, though, so there isn't really a Good fast and a Bad one, IMO.
If you're going to drink shakes, you may as well just eat food.
Update us after you're done and let us know how it went!0 -
well, down 10lbs in one day, so it went pretty good!0

I wouldn't do it as a response to a week of crappy eating and i'd do more research into it like Lyle's RFL book0 -
I have done it. Most of what you'll drop is water and bloat. I stuck to it for 4 days to make weight for a powerlifting meet. You would have dropped that 10 pounds of water and bloat eating sensibly. If you follow the actual PSMF as it is written you should be eating around 1400 calories.0
