Fitbit Ultra error message 4.14 - is it DOA?

I just got a Fitbit Ultra today and attempted to connect it to my computer to create my account. The program couldn't connect to the device, despite a restart and what appears to be a full charge. The display flashes 4.14 when I restart it, but then cycles through the normal device options.
I emailed their tech support, but in the meantime, is this anything you guys have had issues with? Is it fixable? A quick google search seems to make it seem like 4.14 is the death knell for the device. :s

    Sorry, I haven't had that type of trouble with my One. I'd wait to hear from Fitbit support. They are very helpful. I also have a couple of friends who had problems with their devices, including one person who lost hers, and Fitbit sent them a new device, free of charge.
