I have lost 68 pounds so far this year and my advice is to find an exercise you really enjoy and you will want to keep with it. It will become a priority. Be patient with yourself and you will make the changes you need to make forever. The process is more enjoyable than you think.

You are off to a good start, finding many reasons to do it.

Use the links Lorib posted and
    • calculate the daily calories you need to maintain your current weight
    • Set a target a little below that
    • log every day, even if you go over. It makes you aware of your habits
    • Gather some friends here and motivate each other
    • It's OK if you goof up.

Watch your sugar intake - I cut out most sugars and Lost 8kgs (17.6lbs) in roughly 10wks  I was also running but only two days a week!

I don't know if you are like me, but I tend to have an all or none attitude and will give up if I feel I failed, but it really is just one meal,. one day, one week, whatever. It doesn't matter in the long run

I found that exercising 4 times a week as a minimum for 30 to 40 minutes worked for me. Calorie intake has been about 1700 daily. And I keep lots of veggies and fruit in the fridge at all times. I also have hard boiled eggs in the fridge to grab as a snack. I cleaned out my pantry right from the start so I wouldn't have those devilish temptations.
