I just joined MFP a week or so ago after a few hit and misses with weight loss over the past year or so. I've always been the chubby kid who refused to admit that losing weight would be hard and take time. But now, I decided to take it seriously. I have a fantastic boyfriend who got a gym membership with me and is also doing MFP. He has been keeping me accountable and being honest with me, which I need.

I had never bothered to look at calorie counting until I came online here and realized I was eating well over what I should be. Switching to consuming over 1000 calories less than I was has been hard, especially since it is so very brand new. I gained weight in the past week and almost punched out my adorable beau when he reminded me I didn't need that slice of pizza. When my weak spots came around over the week (late night homework break!), I turned to you guys here. I looked through dozens and dozens of success stories and realized that if they could do it, I could too.

Today, when I did weigh in after a late night gym session, I had lost 3 pounds :). Thank you all for getting me through the rough patches. Even though I'm just starting, I know I can make it through by looking up to all of you fantastic people who led the way or are right there beside me. I know I can do it this time!

Hi, I've been on hear for nearly three months and this is my atempt at hitting fat with every weapon in my arsenal. I've been going to the gym for about five years and it's made a difference but still got a couple of pounds to loose. The idea is to learn as much as possible about exercise and nutrition ( that's why I'm here) and hopefully get the six pack to show. I hope you reach your goals and your boyfriend doesn't go crazy before hand .

I love your determination (jumping on MFP when you really wanted a snack)--that is great and will work wonders. It is amazing when you see the math of your numbers working out. I've just started, too, so am still getting accustomed to spreading out my food into several small meals, and I've finally began exercising (what USED to be my arch nemesis is becoming my new BFF).

Good luck and kudos to you and your supportive boyfriend!

Awesome job making it through that first week and WELCOME to MFP! My new found friends here at MFP have gotten me through alot of rough patches. Like you said, seeing that it can be done, from the inspiration stories they share on here, is a incentive for me also. If they can do it, so can I! The more support you can get, the better. I have found lot's of friends here, just wish we all lived on the same block, lol! Feel free to add me as a friend, and we will travel this long road together!

Good job! I was the same, never counted calories just thought I was eating ok until MFP but it is a wonder how much you think you are not eating and you really are. Keep up the good work.
