Hello, I am new on this site. I hope to meet some friends that are like me. Average, hardworking, busy and want to lose weight because you have a higher BMI, or other health reasons.

First, can anyone recommend a good mobile app that works with this site? Not gonna lie, I am not about to go jogging 5 miles everyday, I can't do that yet, besides, it's winter here.

That is the list of apps that work with MFP. Each of the apps has its set of pros and cons so I recommend testing out the free versions and seeing which one you like best.

There's a MyFitnessPal app which you can use to log your food on the go. If you want an app to track walking, hiking, or other activities, there are many that sync with the site. This page lists them: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps

I know people who use MapMyFitness, Endomondo, and RunKeeper. Most of the apps have their own associated website, which usually has a free account with limited features, and then a paid upgrade for more features.

Whatever you do for activity, start slow. Walking is great and can be done every day. If you're interested in running, try the Couch to 5K (aka C25K) program, which slowly works you up to running for 30 minutes. Swimming is easy on the joints. Weightlifting or bodyweight exercises help you keep your muscle while you lose fat.

The most important thing to do is find something you like and stick to it until it's a habit. And don't let the cold scare you. As my Norwegian friends say, "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing."

    Good luck!
