under/over eating?

Is it ok if some days I am under/over the calorie goal mfp has set for me? I've noticed that what/how much I eat day to day varies a lot--I go from as low as 1000 up to 2200. I've only been logging for a few weeks and I am still losing, so it seems like the calories should all even out.
My only concern is how healthy it is to bounce around like that? Is it crucial that I eat the ~1600 mfp gives me every day, or could I go lower than that on occasion and be in good shape still? Same with eating more on some days.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer to this too xx0

Its fine, just look at the weekly average and make sure you are close to your target. Appetite will vary from day to day0

If you eat 1000 4x a week and 2200 3x a week, that's an average of ~1500. So a bit below your recommended intake, but not so lowt hat it's going to make you hate life due to incredible hunger. If your weekly average is too low, then consider trying to eat more regularly.0

It is perfectly natural to vary like that. That's why our bodies store fat, so we don't have to eat as many calories as we burn every day. People with a low fat percentage have to be more careful.0

Eat when you are hungry til you are full. What foods you eat to manage the frequency of hunger is the point in question. If you aren't hungry, you aren't hungry. Nothing wrong with it, unless of course you have a neurological disconnect.0

It's perfectly normal for appetite to fluctuate. This is precisely how I lost close to 100 lb. As long as you are averaging a deficit in any particular time frame you will be losing. Say your maintenance is 2000, and you ate one day at 1000, one day at 1500, and one day at 2200. This would average at around 400 calories of deficit in these 3 days, or slightly less than a pound a week.0

Yes - it's fine to track weekly - and in my view quite sensible, because you don't do the same things every day nor do you feel the same every day
if you use the apps use the weekly calorie charts - they tell you your average daily consumption over the last 7 days and how many calories you're over / under for the last 7 days
(they're on PC version too but don't give the averages / calories over / under info)0 -
