I nap a lot, is that normal?

Like the title says, I nap...a lot. And I'm not talking about an hour or so a day on 5 or 6 hours of sleep, no. I sleep for about 7.5 to 8.5 hours of sleep at night on average, then I come home after work and can take a 3 to 4 hour nap every day, even on the days that I don't work. When I take a nap, I'll set an alarm and will fall right back to sleep, even if I have to walk across the room to turn it off, I will get back into bed.

A little background...
I have a migraine disorder and I'm on two different types of medications, one being an antidepressant, to control the migraines. I take these at night because they can cause me to become lightheaded, sleepy, blah, blah, blah....When I do have a migraine, taking a nap does help most of the time, but I only have a one about once or twice a month. I'm 24 years old, a part time graduate student, and I'm married....yeah I think that covers about everything major....

I just don't think that this is normal, I'm 24, I shouldn't feel the need to sleep for eleven hours every day.

When I was in high school I used to nap after school for hours and hours. Now that I am 23 and a busy grad student, I very much still do want to nap, but I don't actually NEED to do it.

It probably has to do with the medication you are taking, specifically the antidepressant. Talk to your doctor about it. Naps are wonderful on occasion but they can become an awful habit when they are too frequent.

Don't nap. I used to nap all the time. Stopped doing it, and I very seldom need to.

Now, with the migraines... those are a b. I started supplementing magnesium and they mostly went away. Worked that one out with my neurologist. I didn't want to live a life of popping prescription candy.

I often suffer migraines. Once the doctor prescribed me a pill that made me feel like drunk the whole time and I had to quit on it after only resisting two hours at school (and screwing up a terribly easy test) and sleeping literally the whole day (by the way, before someone says that I'm underaged because I'm speaking of school: I'm not). I think that day I was awaken 3 and a half hours tops and the next day I slept until noon. Maybe you should ask your doctor about this symptoms. A change of pills solved my sleeping issues and a couple of months later, migraines as well (although they creep back every once in a while, nothing serious).
