  • Don't worry about the scale. Take your measurements (chest, waist, hips, thighs, arms, etc) and watch those. It's possible to lose fat without "losing weight"

Weight can fluctuate anywhere between 1-5 pounds from day to day based on glycogen storage (if you're working out) water retention (due to several different factors) and whether or not you've pooped. I wouldn't worry about 3 pounds. Make the best choices you can on your trip, try and see if you can exercise a bit whilst on your trip, and just enjoy yourself.

Life is too short to worry about 3 wee pounds.

If your choices are going to be restricted, the portion control is going to be your only option. If possible, I would try to measure and log things (even if the only measuring you can do is eyeballing it, such as at a restaurant) before you eat them to maintain a sense of how much you've had and how much you've got left.

Vacation doesn't mean you can't exercise to help offset some of the calories. One of the strategies I employ with clients is that they make sure that they have a planned exercise schedule while on vacation. This also helps them to think about not undoing the hard work they already put in.

I don't know what the issue is. On vacation, I typically am a whole lot more active than normal as I'm out sight seeing and stuff. More activity - similar cal intake. Lose weight. That's what happens for me.
