I'm not new, but I'm back.

I have had Hashimoto's for about 7-8 years, and was here a few times in the past, but my Hashi wasn't under control so I was not able to lose anything. Now I'm back and have a great doc who's helping me feel better with this and not just do the bare minimum like so many of my docs in the past.

In the time since dealing with Hashi, I have gained almost 100 lbs and I've also had 3 babies. I'm looking to lose all the Hashi & baby weight.

Hi HashiMomma. Please feel free to add me as I have had Hashi for about the same amount of time as you and might actually have found some stuff that seems to be helping beyond the thyroid RX meds.

@ Mark - it is an autoimmune disease where your body attacks your own thyroid because it is not functioning effectively. More prevalent in women than men but men do get it and hard to detect unless you get an autoimmune blood panel drawn.

Can I make a weird suggestion? Go re-register under a different username before you have too much data and too many friends in MFP. Your disease doesn't need to be part of your identity. I've had Hashi's for years, but I barely think about it except to take my meds and get my levels checked twice a year. It doesn't have to define you.

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease), and I lost all the weight before my thyroid levels ever reached the "normal" range.

I lost slowly, so be patient! But I did it just like everybody else—by eating fewer calories than I burn. Thyroid meds (in my case, Synthroid & Cytomel) reduce the fatigue so I can be more active. But I kept gaining & gaining until I learned to log everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging is simple, but it ain't easy. Logging works.
