Sugar in fruit

I have the hardest time not over-doing sugar (at least according to my meal tracker here), strictly because of all of the fruit that I eat. I rarely eat anything with added sugar, so does it really hurt that apples and bananas push me over my sugar threshold? Or what do you recommend I put in their place?

Thanks!

I see a registered dietician and she said not to worry at all about my fruit and I have heard many other say the same thing. I am over with my protein shake in morning almost but the benefits from the fruit are great. The only ones who need to watch are those who have medical reasons like diabetics

Personally, I completely disregard the sugar count. Sugar is a carb and I just watch my total carbs rather than worry about how much of it is sugar and how much is anything else. I've changed my diary settings so I don't even see it.

Except you have a medical reason to avoid sugar, don't count it. I replaced the sugar counting with iron counting (because I tend to get anemic) and forgot about it. Hasn't affected my weight loss at all.

Not unless you have a medical issue. I went over all the time in the summer when I eat lots of fruit and lost quite a bit of weight while doing so.

I think it makes more sense to focus on getting a balanced diet with lots of nutrients (which foods like fruit certainly contribute to) and not going over calories. I decided to track fiber instead of sugar.

Sugar (refined or natural) is just a carb. If you are tracking carbs, there is no need to track sugar as well. Disregard MFPs ridiculous numbers.
