How about strength training with resistance band and dumbbells? That's all I have access too right now. I can't wait to get access to a barbell. I'm currently trying to convince my husband that we should invest in a 1 yr membership at a local gym. He's still iffy on it.
I started Stronglifts 5x5 last year after my husband bought a bench, barbell and weights. However, he decided he wanted to join a gym instead. So he sold the bench, barbell and weights. Then he changed his mind about the gym membership.

So YOU buy a bench, barbell and weights. They are quite reasonable if you look around, especially with the holidays approaching. Can also get used set from private individuals or shops that sell recycled equipment.0

Oops sorry wrong board.

If I could, I would. However, currently our budget is very tight and we discuss all purchases first (even small things like a candy bar or bag of chips). The whole reason my husband changed his mind about a gym membership is because of our budget. Gyms around us cost about $40 a month for a single person. So far he thinks we might be able to afford it with tax returns, but as for right now the money just isn't available.
