Is my TDEE wrong?

The calculator on IIFYM says my BMR is 1350 calories and my TDEE is 1610 calories.

That seems awfully low. My height is 5'6 and my weight is 130.

I do have a desk job and don't exercise though. Does it seem accurate?

How old are you? Mine is around there but I'm 49 and have 15lbs. on you. So sounds feasible to me, if you put that you were sedentary.

Are you trying to lose weight? You're on the lowish end of 'normal BMI' already.

Sounds accurate to me. I'm the same height, 20 lbs heavier, and exercise 5-6x a week. My bmr is about 100 calories higher and my tdee is 2100-2200.

Sounds about right, if not a little high.

    for a desk job - that's a sedentary setting I believe

if you're really not moving at all - you could get a pedometer (fitbit?) to track your actual movements

and then try to earn more by just moving a little more with getting up from your desk and walking around

Eat 1600 calories for a month and see if you maintain. If you lose, then up the calories. If you don't, then it's your TDEE.

I am 40 years old, 5' 5.5" and between 126-129 depending on the day. If I didn't make an effort, and just let myself be sedentary (desk job, only walking 3k-5k steps per day for basic errands and such) then my total daily burn would be 1600-1700. I make an effort to move more - with a goal to burn 1900-2000. Its not always intense 'exercise'. But sometimes choosing to do activities that have me on my feet rather than my bum.

My reasoning? I don't want to be sedentary. I want to be active. I want to do things, moreso than JUST watch things. And I think eating in the 1900-2000 range is about right for maintenance. Sitting back, taking it easy, and having to always micromanage my calories in (to make sure its 1600-1700 or lower) would not be a good plan I think.

This ^ The calculators spit out an estimate. You have to test the estimate to see if it's spot on or if an adjustment is needed.
