Hi there, I just started really tracking my food today and I'm so hungry! I am trying yet again to lose this weight. I have about 80 pounds to lose ( I am currently 242 pounds) and I have had this weight on since my oldest daughter was born ( she will be 16 this year). So, its a struggle.
I grew up thin and fit and exercised like a fanatic in high school and university. It was when I started working full time the weight came on. Then after kids I never made myself a priority. I am a huge emotional eater and it's my "reward" at the end of a crazy day.
I am hoping I can find some friends to connect with on this journey. Congrats to all of you. I know how difficult this is.

hey! welcome to a new healthier you. you are hungry? did you preplan your day? that makes it easier. also i dunno if you exercise.. but if you do, you get to eat those (or SOME if you dont have a heart rate monitor) too!! you arent supposed to starve. grab some water and make sure you are getting in protein in almost every meal or snack (those will keep you fuller longer).. also maybe try spreading out your food throughout the day.. so you are eating like 5ish times a day. i like to eat every 3 hours. (also keeps the metabolism moving).. its your FIRST day.. anything is really an improvement. you dont have to be a champion your first day out. you can totally do this.. and can i also say how exceptionally awesome you are for starting NOW & not after the holiday.. or next week etc. that shows you are really in this. also totally add me as a friend if you like. best of luck and know that it can be a struggle sometimes but it is TOTALLY worth it.0

Plan it properly and learn the common traits of successful dieting MFP style by reading the stickies which contain much valuable information.
Get some digital kitchen scales and weigh your food.
Take babysteps with realistic achievable targets each week. 1 week logging, first 1lb etc.
Do some exercise, walking a short distance and then slowlu increasing duration and frequency.
Look at the emotional eating and figure out how you will deal with it in future, so you know what to do when it happens and have a plan to follow.
Also dont demonise food, learn about moderation, be patient and realistic, get some mfp friends and never beat up on yourself, if you make the wrong choice try and make the better one next time.0 -

I have tried to lose weight so many times, but I guess it just has to click. Not sure if I had that click yet, but I do feel different this time around. The most helpful part is the realization that I should NEVER feel guilty for over eating, or skipping on my exercising. Once I was able to get rid of the guilt, I felt so much more empowered. Another thing that has been working for me so far is not thinking about how much I have to lose. I know it works for people to think about their goals and their desired results. That just depresses the heck out of me and has made me give up in the past every time. Now I focus only on right now, as in my current meal - I want it to be the healthiest and most nutritious (remember...no guilt if it's not, try again in a couple of hours). When I go to the gym and see that it's so easy to scarf down something that is 300 calories, and then see how hard it is to burn 300 calories...I get even more depressed. So I don't think about it. My goal is to work out for an hour every day. It's been 7 days and I've been able to stick with it, because I don't think about tomorrow, only about my work out right now. I get on the treadmill and start walking, then I add on an incline and I set small goal within my workout: like run until that next minute is up, and walk again and run with a small goal. With better eating (not perfect eating) and more exercise, I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. 52 to go!
Now, planning what I will eat does help a lot, like others have mentioned. I bought a Bledtec and do smoothies every day and that helps a lot! Keep going! It doesn't matter how you did in the past, but how you do tight now.0 -
