Im not a bit person on snacks, i never know what to have.
Im wondering if anyone has had smoothies their snack, (from 11am-2pm)
I want to have a smoothie as my snack, a largish one that i can keep drinking between those times as it curbs my hunger and keeps me energized, does anyone do this?
Or even does anyone have smoothies has their Lunch or Dinner?

I have done this, but I ultimately prefer eating my food vs drinking it.
Using a blender (to keep all fiber in the foods):
-A good handful of spinach (I'm guessing approximately 2 cups)
-1 cup of frozen berries (Walmart in my case - blueberries, blackberries strawberries, raspberries)
-1 whole banana
-Approximately 3ish cups of water
This makes a very large smoothie. I drink it slowly and it can fill me up for hours - no hunger pangs!0 -
Ok here it goes. I will tell you this is super healthy, tast-I-licious and feels sinful to have every single morning for breakfast. I used to have a lot of symptoms from IBS until I introduced this into my diet. Now I have zero. No bloating, no constipation, no cramps. Ever. Keeps me going all morning!
1/2 cup canned pumpkin (the puree, not pumpkin pie filling)
1/2 cup oikos non fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup milk (I use 1% but experiment to your taste)
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
Dash vanilla extract
Few dashes pumpkin pie spice
1-2 tsp flax or chia seeds
Throw it all in my Nutribullet and 30 seconds later I'm having dessert for breakfast.0 -
I do breakfast smoothies sometimes.
-1.5cups PC 4 berry blend (blue, black, straw, rasp)
- Protein powder
- 3 ice cubed
- 1 cup water (or coconut water if I'm feeling frisky)
This is my favorite go to but there are SO MANY different types of smoothies you can make. And they are easy to make meal or snack sized as well.0 -
WOW! all of these sound so good! i have been having some strawberry, cherry blueberry ones recently and i feel SOOOO refreshed and like i've actually eaten something instead of having them i.e fruit salad way.
perhaps im a bit weird~~
can i also ask if you felt introducing these smoothies help you lose weight?.... in the sense you wasn't as hungry and that is supplemented you eating more calories than other snacks?

i have a juice/smoothie for breakfast everyday love them! and I normally have a glass left over which I have for an afternoon snack too or before I hit the gym after a days work, it boosts my energy. Don't have recipe here but one with pineapple, apples, watercress, spinach, lime I think, celery, cucumber, parsley, then blend with avocado...gorgeous...and another with beetroot, broccoli, apples, celery and cucumber I think, again blended with avocado, sets me up for the day. fills me up til lunch!0

I do smoothies every day, usually after my workout. I use frozen fruit, a banana, non-dairy milk (usually almond), and a vegan protein powder If I make one for breakfast, I'll add oats. If I make one later in the day I add greens. That's the great thing about smoothies, you can put in whatever you feel like pretty much!0

I love smoothies, and I try to have them for breakfast, other times as a snack. I use a Nutri bullet which makes a big difference vs a regular blender
I use any of the following, depending on my mood (sometimes it's higher in calories, other ties it's lower)
- soy milk (always)
- water (always)
- spinach - often
- frozen strawberry, blueberry - most of the time
- banana - sometimes
- almonds, or other nuts
- chia seeds
- greek yoghurt
- protein powder
- oats
- other fresh fruit0 -
I've been experimenting with smoothies, as they are quick and easy, esp in the mornings. My go-to for breakfast is a variation on some already mentioned above - i.e.
1 cup frozen berries
1 cup spinach
1/2 small banana
2-3 tbsp Greek yoghurt (I always go full fat, but can use 0% or lower fat versions)
1 tsp honey
3/4 cup water
Blend to mix.
This comes to about 230 cals but is very substantial - I tend to use full fat products in my smoothies as they are like a meal and are very filling and protein-filled.
For a treat or as a part of breakfast / lunch if I'm craving chocolate, I have my healthy-ish peanut butter and chocolate smoothie:
1 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 small banana
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp peanut butter
Blend to mix. Yummmmm - tastes like a rich choc milkshake but pretty filling as well. 260 cals.0 -
By the way, you absolutely cannot taste a cup of greens like spinach and kale in a fruit smoothie - so it is a great way to up your intake of these0
