I'm eating terrible and to top it off portion control isn't my thing clearly because i've just added 5 lbs back on. I'm struggling mentally to get myself on the right track. I'm posting this because im 23 and a CNA on midnight and i'm sluggish all the time. i'm trying to MAKE MYFITNESSPAL a everyday HABIT. I'm looking for some friends on here and some recipes that are easy to make (i'm a bad cook, so i end up eating alot of fast food and premade deli foods) and that don't have that many ingredients (because i cook terrible and dont have much time to make these complex dishes i always see) so that i could have nice meals throughout the day, and some that i could even take to work. healthy and low cal are what i'm looking for. i have so many bad habits to kick. Any positive help is so desperately appreciated.

I still eat junk/fast food since it's easier for me to count calories. :\

Cooking chicken and veggies isn't complex at all, or any meat + veggies. feel free to add me. Im a full time overnight RN working 16 hour shifts, I weigh all my food, prep it, then eat it all. (But avoid the day of and after thanksgiving in my diary)

Preparing healthy meals doesn't need to be complicated. A couple of examples:
Boneless Skinless chicken breast - sliced into then strips. Weight out 4 - 6 oz of strips.
    - In non-stick skillet on medium high heat brown chicken strips on each side - reduce heat to med-low.
Take 4 oz of baby carrots and cook in microwave for 1 minute, add 4 oz of broccoli crowns to carrots and heat additional 90 seconds.
Heat instant rice in microwave (Uncle Ben's ready rice is my preference).
Chicken will be done cooking by the time the vegies and rice are finished.
Total time is about 5 minutes. You can double the portions and take 1/2 as a microwavable dish for work (if you double the portions of vegetables you will need to increase the microwave cooking time for them). (microwave for about 2.5 minutes to reheat.)
Another favorite of mine: Center cut pork roast in slow cooker with potatoes and carrots.
Weigh out 4 oz. each of cooked pork, potatoes and carrots, microwave another vegetable, and your done. This also heats up well in a microwave (about 2.5 minutes).
You can mix up the vegies anyway you like. It is really simple and quick. I take a package of chicken breast and cut them up and freeze them in 4 oz bags for quick and easy meal prep. It is faster, healthier and less expensive then a fast food place.

Even I learned to cook a bit. Here's what I honestly believe as an average American woman: I fought my body, fought to keep it at a weight I liked. I lost. And then I learned how to FUEL my body by eating real, wholesome, nutrient dense foods. To do that, I also learned to cook a tiny bit. Now, almost 14 years later, I'm maintaining without logging (except occasionally to check in). I personally find it so much easier to be the weight I want when I build a diet around nutrient dense foods with relatively short ingredient lists (AKA not fast food). Best of luck finding what works for you.
