Hey guys,
I have been eating healthier and exercising over the last month( seriously) and have lost 5 lbs. I am happy with that loss but I have a few questions if someone doesn't mind guiding me in the right way.
So, I am 26 yrs old, I currently weigh 185, I stand at 5'5 and I have my cals set to 1200. Should I be eating my calories back always? For example, yesterday i worked out and burn nearly 600, but I ate them all back.., am I being counter productive by doing this you think?
according to the TDEE method I should be eating 1800 cals a day no matter what...., Im just kind of confused which method to follow, obviously I would like to get the maximum loss in healthiest way.
If anyone is in a similar boat like me or can help me I would appreciate your feedback! thank you

TDEE is not no matter what, it's when you want to maintain weight. If you wanna lose it then you should be below TDEE. You are currently 600 cals (personally I think 300 - 500 max should be enough, but hey...) below TDEE so you will lose weight.
If you ate only 1200 cals and also burn another 600 that means that you actually only ate 600, cos 600 went for energy you used by exercises. Therefore it's too low deficit, not good. On other hand, if you ate 1800 and burn 600 by exercises you are at 1200 cals so you will lose weight, cos you are below your TDEE aka your maintenance calories.
If you ate 1200 and also burn 600 then you need to ate them back. Otherwise you will be in too big caloric deficit what is not healthy.0 -
oops, I forgot to add, my TDEE is 2251 , and then i subtract about 450 to give me around 1800.. So, technically at 1800 I should still be loosing weight right?0

Assuming your logging/estimating is reasonably accurate, at 1200 cals YES you should definitely be eating them back.0

Correct. Again, assuming all your logging/estimating/calculating is reasonably accurate.0 -
