Should you work out if you're sleep deprived?

I would nap. I've noticed that if I workout while really tired, I always end up getting sick. Listen to your body0

If you're truly sleep deprived, your workout won't last very long whether it's cardio or strength. How do I know? My day starts early and ends around midnight. Then I go to the gym. I have almost fallen asleep on the treadmill and I've fallen asleep in the middle of lifting and using the recumbent elliptical.
Point is if you are truly sleep deprived your workout will not last long. But only you know if you have the energy or not. Sometimes I go days with a couple hours of sleep and it doesn't bother me. Then some days I'm falling asleep behind the wheel... Which I try to avoid.0 -
I would do my walking, but not lifting I would be afraid of hurting myself.
ETA: I have insomnia a few times a year.0 -
I would absolutely workout. It always helps me sleep better at night.0

Easy for me. If I'm really so tired that I need a nap, I won't have the energy to workout anyway, so...0

I work nights and take care of my 2 year old during the day. I average 3 hours of sleep a day so many days going for a run is just not going to happen. I do run on my days off and any time I'm able to get a little extra sleep. I lost 30 lbs last year without much exercise, just a calorie deficit so it can happen.0

I find that when I am tired, my heart rate will jump up above my target zone. I will have a hard time keeping it down and end up having to walk much slower then usually to accomplish this. Long story short....Take a nap.0

It depends. If I've had as much as six hours of sleep, I'll work out and go to bed early that night. If it's less than six hours, I'm courting all kinds of problems not getting some sleep. I generally do best with a solid workout every day and 7-8 hours of sleep. I'll go to some trouble to get it.0
