If the item youre consuming lets say 15g of olives equals 5 olives but when you weigh it 15g comes out to 8 olives, do you go by what you weighed or what te serving size says

Weight. Always weight. If the serving size is 10g, but the actual weight of the serving is 12g, you're having 1.2 servings.1

The nutrition information is based on the weight given on the label/entry, so that will be the more accurate measurement. The serving size given in number of olives or in measuring cups/spoons is the nearest approximation to make it easier for those without a food scale to use. But since no two olives will be exactly the same size that estimation is never as accurate.0

I weigh most everything. Things that are uniform in shape and size everytime(ex some packaged cracker) I might not weigh..it is so much easier for me to put a plate on the scale, tare it and then go rather than counting out items. More accurate too1

Don't feel dumb. This is why there are so many people telling others that it is important to weigh your food . When I started weighing, it was a real eye opener. Sometimes you can actually have more, as you found. But quite often we end up underestimating when we don't weigh.

Always weight, and when it gives the serving size in ounces and grams, use grams. Sounds dumb, but I have sausage that says a serving size is 50g/2 oz. I had to contact the company (because math) and they told me that they have to give the serving size in ounces so they round it up.0

I go by weight. I create my own entries to log it exact.0

Weight. Always weight. Much much more accurate. Serving sizes based on item count or volume measurement are an approximation based on an average. Is it BAD to use that rather than a scale? Not really. Unless your weight loss is not where you think it it should be, it's entirely possible that approximation is close enough.
In the interests of full disclosure, I use a scale. I find using that scale keeps me honest in a way that nothing else does, and it is showing up in my progress.0
