Question regarding BMR and calorie goals

I have been using MFP's recommendation of netting 1370 calories to lose 1 lb a week. I'm losing weight right now, but today I looked up my estimated BMR and it says my BMR is 1470 which is more than what I've been eating. I think I read somewhere on here that we shouldn't net less than our BMR in order to keep our metabolism from slowing down, feeling lethargic etc. Is that correct? I have been feeling very tired but I was attributing that to recently returning to work after being out for 6 months getting cancer treatment (in remission now but still doing radiotherapy for the next month). Now that I realize what my BMR is I think part of the fatigue might be my diet.

I've just increased my calorie goal to netting 1500 calories. MFP says that I should lose about .7 lbs per week instead of 1 lb a week but that still isn't too bad. I only have about 15 lbs to lose to get back to the weight I was before conceiving my daughter in 2011.

So could any of you folks who know what you are talking about verify that my understanding is correct that I probably shouldn't be netting less than my BMR?

If your feeling fatiqued, rundown etc and maybe hungry, eat more. Your body's telling you it needs more fuel.
If you only have 15lbs, .7 is a good rate :) eat up!
